Whether born or made, leaders develop over time. I’m no exception.
Spending my early years as a vocal and underappreciated disruptor, I entered adulthood as an insecure communicator who excelled at writing and worked hard to avoid any other type of communication. In growing a career in marketing, I gained confidence and became increasingly interested in the people behind the experiences I was promoting.
Pivoting to organizational behavior consulting provided me with life-changing exposure to the dynamics of executive leadership, people management, team performance, work cultures, and entrepreneurship. It’s where my talents of empathy, achievement, and activation coalesced into a drive to improve workplaces. It’s also where I eventually became the obstacle to my future success.
When I got stuck, investing in my leadership development moved me forward.
Through continuing education and coaching I learned to get comfortable being uncomfortable. I discovered the power of facilitating–rather than forcing–individual change. And I got to refine what, who, and how I want to be: a person-centered partner who combines brains, experience, and passion to make professional life better. Someone who empowers others to increase their impact by shining a spotlight on them instead of standing in it myself.
